Mighty No. 9 is an action platformer developed by Comcept and Inti Created and directed by Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man. He was working for Capcom until a few years ago, and in order to develop his new project, he started a campaign on KickStarter. He reached his goal in 2 days, and started creating Mighty No. 9. It is available for all platforms, including PC, Linux and Mac, the consoles Nintendo 3Ds, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the next-gen consoles Wii U, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Beck is the character you will control, and he is in charge of defeating his mates
Obviously, this game has a great influence (not to say they are almost the same) of the well-known Mega Man. Not for nothing, Mega Man and Mighty No. 9 share the same father. Mega Man was one of the more successful franchises of Capcom, but after years of decreasing sales, it has been abandoned. However, Inafune did not want Mega Man to be forgotten, but he hasn't got the rights of the saga, so he has launched Mighty No. 9, a videogame that is almost Mega Man but without a license.
In addition, Inafune is not the only prestigious person related to Mega Man who has worked in this project. Manami Matsume (composer of the Mega Man saga) is the composer of this new release, Maoya Tomita has designed the levels of Mighty No. 9, Kimo-Kimo has designed the characters, and other people such as Ben Judd, Koji Imaeda, Takuya Aizu and Shinsuke Komani also do their bit.
The storyline of this game is quite simple, with a remarkable retro Japanese style, but also with Western influences because plenty of the funders of KickStarter were from Western countries. Inafune has decided to hear the suggestions of all the fans and for this reason, the game has been influenced by most cultures. In the storyline, the robots are included in the daily life of the people. There is a group of robots named the Mighty Numbers and one day, a terrible virus that makes them extremely violent infected all of them except for the Mighty No. 9, Beck. Beck is the character you will control, and he is in charge of defeating his mates.
Mighty No. 9 will have eight chapters or phases in which you will have to face the eight robot mates of Beck. Each phase is themed with the powers of the robots, which will be the final bosses. Fire, water and ice and so on are some examples of the powers of the bosses. Once you defeat the Mighty Number, you will be free to absorb its powers. These powers are Mighty Skills, and thanks to them, you will be able to open new options for the levels.
Once you download it, you will see that another important skill of Beck is the ability to collect color points. These points can be one of four different colors. The yellow points will give you a temporal shield that is quite useful to avoid the fire of the enemies. The red ones make you stronger for a limited period of time. The blue ones will increase your health, and finally, the green ones boost the Dash movement.
