Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is a survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is the sequel to Resident Evil: Revelations and the events of this release are set in 2011, between the events of RE 5 and RE 6. This time, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield give the protagonist roles up to Moira Burton and Claire Redfield. However, they are not unknown, Claire is the sister of Chris, and Moira is the Barry Burton’s daughter, another of the protagonists of the saga. In addition, the game has been designed in four episodes that that will be released consecutively. The episodes will have Claire and Moira, and Barry and Natalie (a little girl with special abilities) as protagonists.
This time, the creators leave the Queen Zenobia to enter in a kind of creepy prison. As could not be otherwise, the new environment is labyrinthine, dark, bloody, mysterious and cruel (and of course, full of monsters). Take into account that Capcom has focused on the storyline and the atmosphere instead of the graphics aspect. This does not mean that the graphics are awful, but it is true that the visuals do not look as good as other videogames of the next-generation. However, even though the graphics are not marvelous, you will be able to see every detail of the zombies, the facial expressions of the characters, the particles of the environment, and so on.
The music and sound effects help to create an insidious atmosphere. It is abstract, with sudden noises to make you jump in fright, and relatively calm when nothing is happening. It does not stand out, but it is perfect for this adventure. You will be immersed in the plot, and you will feel as if you were in prison with the main characters.
Resident Evil: Revelations 2 has focused on a cooperative style in which a single player can control both protagonists (depending on the episodes Claire and Moira, or Barry and Natalie) or two players can control them in the offline local cooperative mode. If you play alone, you will have to switch between the characters just by pressing a button. There is the Raid Mode, a cooperative online mode with which you can play with your friends even if he or she is not with you.
As it could not be otherwise, the new environment is labyrinthine, dark, bloody, mysterious and cruel (and of course, full of monsters)
Once you start playing, you will see that Redfield is the one in charge of the weapons, and Moira the one with the flashlight. You will be free to switch between them every time you want, except for some situations in which you are forced to use just one of them. The logic thing is to control Claire the most part of the time, and use Moira when you need to find some object, since she can discover items in dark areas with the flashlight.
There is a new kind of zombie in this release: the afflicted. They are quite a bit smarter than the classic zombie is, and they can carry some weapons such as axes, sticks and things like that. They will hunt you instead of just suddenly facing them. Nevertheless, they are not in large groups as zombies used to be, they are spread in the map in couples, or at most three or four in a group. Moira can use the flashlight to blind them for a moment, and then Redfield can shoot them in the face or hit them with the bar until you defeat them.
